Plant search

On rare occasions, someone will ask what sort of things inspire me. Aside from art, ideas, and music, the natural world is strangely intriguing enough as is; if you look at it closely, it's surprising how alien it looks. I recently made another gallivant about campus, looking for compelling, beautiful, and otherwise odd plant life. It's not too hard to find, especially in Florida. Here are a few of my favorites. Some are desktop-sized so feel free to use them.

Spot the wasp!

^ The magnolias are pretty damn cool, seeing as they resemble some sort of temple or shrine. They start out as fuzzy lightbulb/flame-shaped buds, the skin of which peels off to reveal silky-smooth petals which bloom into that shiz. The petals soon brown and curl back inwards, encasing the stamen. The close-up of the stamen is my desktop background right now. Call me weird, but I think it looks pretty freakin' cool.
